California Freelance Writers United is encouraged to see Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez is taking our community’s concerns into consideration and aims to eliminate the unconstitutional cap on independent writers and freelance journalists/photographers’ submissions, while clarifying the B2B exemption.
We look forward to working with the Assemblywoman on the language meant to more clearly define freelance journalism and exploring ways to enact these changes as urgently as possible, given the current devastation to journalists’ and writers’ livelihoods.
We stand with other industries negatively impacted by AB5 who are seeking relief.
